About the role
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end supplier quality and reliability for SSD (Solid-State Drive) components, from NPI through end-of-life.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives during NPI phases to ensure the technical and operational readiness of the SSD commodity supply chain for mass production.
- Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Commodity teams as the subject matter expert on qualifying and scaling SSD technologies.
- Influence product roadmaps and architectural decisions by providing data-driven insights on hardware quality, reliability, and performance trade-offs.
- Drive the resolution of critical fleet and factory issues, leading suppliers through robust Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Failure Analysis (FA), and 8D processes.
- Develop and implement advanced quality plans and process controls (FMEA, DOE, Cpk, etc.) to mitigate risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Quality, Electrical), or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience as a Quality, Reliability or Product Engineering.
- 4 years of experience in SSD manufacturing processes.
- Experience with high-volume, high-reliability hardware in industries such as servers, automotive, or aerospace.
- Experience with SSD technologies, including SSD manufacturing and test processes.
